Director
Matthew Laney is a Director in Bennett Thrasher’s State and Local Tax practice. He focuses on providing state income/franchise tax consulting and compliance. Matthew brings over 14 years of experience with corporations, pass-through entities, individuals including tax controversy, nexus studies, apportionment studies, Public Law 86-272 analysis, filing methodology analysis, voluntary disclosure agreement applications, restructuring implementation, due diligence and ASC 740 documentation.
Prior to joing Bennett Thrasher, Matthew spent four years at Elliott Davis, LLC providing state income/franchise tax consulting, compliance and ASC 740 (provision) services to corporate taxpayers. Matthew also spent a total of 10 years at Deloitte Tax, LLP providing state and local tax compliance and consulting services to clients within various industries including manufacturing and distribution, real estate, software and professional services.
