The Bennett Thrasher Foundation, which serves as the firm’s way of giving back to its local community, is proud to announce that it will be matching 100 percent of donations made by BT associates during the month of May to three organizations based in Clarkston, Georgia that provide support to immigrants and refugees. Often hailed as “the most diverse square mile in America” or “the Ellis Island of the South,” Clarkston is home to many organizations that support and empower refugees by providing medical care, housing, literacy programs, job training and more.
Amidst recent events, Clarkston has experienced a significant increase in Afghani and Ukrainian refugees, creating ongoing financial needs for the local organizations. With that in mind, the BT Foundation is committed to helping the following organizations through its donation-matching initiative:
Friends of Refugees
Founded in 1995, Friends of Refugees (FOR) helps new Americans seize opportunities while bringing them into relationships that will help them flourish. Specifically, FOR’s programs provide essential services, including English tutoring for moms and kids and support for expecting mothers. FOR also provides food assistance and supports emerging entrepreneurship.
New American Pathways
Founded in 2014, New American Pathways supports new Americans on their journey from arrival through citizenship with programs that focus on four key milestones along the pathway: Safety & Stability, Self-Sufficiency, Success and Service.
Clarkston Community Health Center
Founded in 2013, the Clarkston Community Health Center (CCHC) provides a patient-centered medical home for low-income residents of the City of Clarkston and surrounding communities. CCHC recently began a Women’s Health Initiative, in collaboration with Emory Medical School, specifically focusing on refugees and recent immigrants in the community.
